Integrating your CRM (Customer Relationship Management software) with your IP PABX means that you can access caller data automatically and on the fly. When the IP PABX hears an incoming call, it will notify your CRM software and tell it to popup a message containing defails about the caller on the screen of the person who is being called. If the caller is not known to your CRM ( for instance a new lead or potential customer ) then a screen containing your CRM's "New contact" will pop up on the screen allowing your staff to immediately enter details about the caller into your database. CRM and VoIP integration also allows "Click-to-Call", which allows users to click on a phone number in your CRM package and then this customer is automatically dialed. Also, with an integrated VoIP solution, all incoming and outgoing calls are directly logged into your CRM database and thus all history with the client / customer is kept up to date in your CRM database.
