Quality of Service (QoS) and Traffic Shaping are an essential part of any VoIP network : QoS prioritizes important traffic over other less-imporant traffic whereas Traffic shaping allocates and reserves bandwidth to your important applications, either dynamically or statically. When properly configured, your network will run smoothly and your applications will always be allocated their required bandwidth. Although QoS is commonly used for VoIP and Video traffic, QoS can also be used for important database applications or to prioritize networks for certain important departments like Finance and Management.
